Ahead of a historic debut at the Berlin Philharmonie, Voices of Singapore (VOS) is giving local audiences a preview. The choral society presents Songs of Dreams, a special pre-tour concert on 9 November 2026 at SOTA Concert Hall, featuring nearly 400 singers from across the VOS community.
Songs of Dreams gives audiences an exclusive look at the repertoire VOS will bring to Berlin as part of the Philharmonie’s acclaimed Walking in Beauty series. It’s a significant milestone for Singapore’s choral scene: VOS Artistic Director Dr Darius Lim becomes the first Asian composer spotlighted in the series, joining previous honourees Ēriks Ešenvalds, Bob Chilcott and Ola Gjeilo.
A world premiere anchored by local composition
Anchored by Dr Lim’s music, the programme brings together original compositions and celebrated choral works exploring dreams, imagination and shared human experience. It also includes the world premiere of his new work, Our World Is An Island.
The concert reflects the full breadth of the VOS choral community, drawing from its constituent groups: VOS Children’s Choir, VOS Youth Choir, VOS Ladies Choir, VOS Men, VOS City Chorus, VOS Starlight Voices, Chorus of the People and Coronation Singers. The Berlin contingent will bring together singers from across these groups, representing the many communities that make up Singapore’s wider choral landscape.
Tickets and show times
Songs of Dreams runs on Monday, 9 November 2026, with two performances at 2.30pm and 8.00pm at SOTA Concert Hall, 1 Zubir Said Drive. Tickets are priced at S$38 for Stalls and S$32 for Circle (excluding GST and booking fees), with an early bird promotion offering 10% off Stalls tickets until Sunday, 18 October 2026, 23:59hrs, using the promo code EARLY10.
