The World Postcards At Esplanade: Free Tunnel Art Guide

The World (Postcards) by Singapore artist Lai Yu Tong is running free at Esplanade Tunnel until 28 June 2026, making it an easy arts stop if you are already walking between City Hall MRT and Esplanade.

The series comprises postcard-sized works made between 2023 and 2024, each pairing a drawing of a material object or living presence with a postage stamp selected to match the drawing’s colour.

Why It Works As A Stop

This is not a ticketed exhibition that asks for a long commitment. It is a quiet visual-arts encounter inside a commuter route, which makes it useful for lunch breaks, pre-show arrivals and anyone easing into contemporary art.

The works reflect on shared living and the images that may await us upon death, so it rewards a slower look even though the venue is transitional.

Planning Notes

Esplanade Tunnel is at Basement 1 and connects the arts centre to Citylink Mall and City Hall MRT. Pair it with another Esplanade show or a waterfront walk if you want a fuller evening.
