SHARP’s Purefit Plasmacluster air purifier went on sale in Singapore on 28 September at S$744, a unit built to stand against a wall, with a Haze Mode that increases air intake when outdoor air is poor. The model, FX-S82E, comes in Stone Gray and Stone Black and is rated for rooms of up to 62 square metres.
It arrives as haze is back. Early on Tuesday, 6 October, the 24-hour PSI was in the unhealthy range in most of Singapore, and the National Environment Agency’s forecast for the day runs from high moderate to mid unhealthy.
What Haze Mode does
Haze Mode is one of the settings in SHARP’s mobile app. It increases how much air the purifier pulls in during spells of poorer outdoor air, to catch haze particles that get into the home. A separate Pet Mode targets fur and odour in homes with cats or dogs.
The app also lets owners check indoor air quality and control the unit when they are out. Setup is by Bluetooth pairing.
Six sensors track dust, odour, humidity, temperature and light, and the purifier adjusts to what they pick up.
Filters on both sides
The FX-S82E draws air in from two sides, with three filters on each:
- a washable pre-filter for larger dust and pet hair
- an activated carbon filter for cigarette, pet and cooking odours and other household smells
- a nanoHD Plus filter, which captures up to 99 per cent of particles as small as 0.003 microns, including PM2.5 and PM10
The pre-filters can be vacuumed with the side panels still attached. Replacement parts are the FZ-S80H2E HEPA filter, the FZ-D40D2E deodorising filter and the IZ-C90ME ion generator.
Built to sit against a wall
Conventional purifiers often have to sit near the people using them or out in the open. This one is designed to work from against a wall: it pushes clean air up the wall and across the ceiling, using the Coanda effect, the tendency of a stream of air to follow a nearby surface. Maximum airflow is 7 cubic metres a minute.
The unit measures 285mm wide and deep and 525mm tall, and weighs 7.2kg.
The purifier carries the Allergy UK Seal of Approval for reducing exposure to dust mite allergens and pollen, and won an iF Design Award in 2026.
