Scoot flights to Guiyang launch on 26 October 2026, making the Guizhou provincial capital the airline’s 17th city in mainland China and giving Singapore a direct route to a part of southwest China most of us have never had reason to fly to. The airline confirmed the new service on 20 August 2026, alongside a wider round of frequency increases across its network for the year-end travel season. Scoot will fly the route three times a week using its Airbus A320neo aircraft, starting 26 October 2026. That date is not random. It lines up with the start of Scoot’s Northern Winter 2026/2027 schedule, which runs from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027 and brings capacity increases across the network, not just this one new city.

With Guiyang added, Scoot now runs 81 weekly flights to 16 cities across mainland China, and its total network grows to 86 destinations across 18 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe. This is not a one-off route addition either. Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer Leslie Thng framed it as part of the airline’s “steady year-on-year capacity growth” heading into the year-end season.

Why Guiyang Is Actually Worth The Detour

Guiyang sits in the heart of Guizhou province, a part of China known for karst mountains and deep gorges. The climate runs noticeably cooler than most destinations Singaporeans fly to for a China trip. It has earned the nickname “the world’s canyon capital” in Chinese tourism circles for good reason.

• Qingyan Ancient Town: one of China’s better-preserved historic towns, roughly 40 minutes from the city centre, with Ming and Qing dynasty architecture still intact.
• Huangguoshu Waterfall: one of the largest waterfalls in Asia, a scenic two-hour drive southwest of Guiyang and easily the region’s headline attraction.
• Cooler weather: Guiyang’s elevation keeps summer temperatures noticeably milder than Singapore’s, which is part of why it is nicknamed China’s “forest city” and a favourite domestic summer escape.

Guiyang is the headline, but Scoot is quietly adding capacity across a string of routes Singaporeans already fly often. If your usual holiday spot is on this list, expect it to be easier to get a decent flight time from October.

• Hat Yai: up from 12 to 14 times weekly.
• Phuket: up from 17 to 21 times weekly.
• Clark: up from seven to 10 times weekly, from December 2026.
• Kota Kinabalu: up from 10 to 13 times weekly, from January 2027.
