ReadSG Challenge: how to earn 20 coins a day on CrowdTaskSG

The ReadSG Challenge on CrowdTaskSG pays 20 virtual coins for each day you log at least 15 minutes of reading. The National Library Board pilot runs from 6 September to 31 December 2026.

Sign in with Singpass, log one session a day, and redeem coins at participating merchants. Coins are not cash in hand.

How to join

Open the ReadSG Challenge quest on crowdtask.gov.sg (short link go.gov.sg/rcct) and log in with Singpass. The platform is the same CrowdTaskSG home used for other citizen tasks.

Once you are in, log one reading session per day when you have read for at least 15 minutes in that 24-hour window. The log is self-reported. NLB treats it as an honour system: you declare the session; there is no app that times your book for you.

What 20 coins are worth

Each logged day pays 20 coins. 1,000 coins equal S$1 in value at participating merchants. At one session a day, that is about 50 days to reach S$1. You can only log one session per day, so reading longer than 15 minutes does not raise the same-day payout.

Redemption is at merchants that take the CrowdTaskSG / NETS QR flow tied to the challenge. It is not a bank transfer and not cash withdrawn from an ATM.

What counts as reading

NLB frames the habit as deep reading rather than scroll-and-skim. Books, magazines and long-form articles fit the brief. The target is a short, repeatable block: on the bus, before bed, or over lunch, as NLB chief executive Melissa Tam put it when the movement launched.

The pilot ends on 31 December 2026. New features may follow from feedback during the run.
