National Library Board is running Children Write: So you want to be a poet? at Punggol Library on Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 2.30pm to 4pm. The workshop is for children aged 7 to 12 and needs registration on GoLibrary.

The session sits in the Programme Room on Level 5. NLB frames it as a screen-lite activity under Grow Well SG. Each ticket admits one person, so a parent who stays needs a separate ticket if the listing requires it for that slot.

What the workshop covers
Children look at how poetry forms travel across time and cultures, including Singapore examples, then try structures such as sonnets, limericks, haiku and free verse. The hour ends with a short guided write so each child leaves with a poem to share in the room.
How to get a seat
Register one ticket per participant on NLB’s GoLibrary page for the event. Attendance is taken on the NLB Mobile app. Arrive about 10 minutes early; late seats can go to the waitlist. Photos may be taken during the session under NLB’s usual programme notice.
Same Saturday, another library
From 4pm to 5pm the same day, Bukit Panjang Library hosts an SRL x SAVH storytelling and Braille activity in the Stories Come Alive Room on Level 4. That one is walk-in, first come first served, with no registration.
Children Write runs 2.30pm to 4pm on 26 September 2026 at Punggol Library for ages 7 to 12.
