The dance floor at *SCAPE fell silent for just a moment before the cheers erupted. After eight days of workshops, battles and showcases, the sixth Lion City Dance Convention (LCDC) 2026 wrapped up on 2 August with champions crowned across eight competition categories, capping one of the biggest street dance gatherings on Singapore’s calendar.
1,000 dancers, eight days, one community
This year’s edition brought together close to 1,000 participants, some as young as six, from Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal and the Philippines. The convention has grown into a regional meeting point for the street dance community, blending competitive fire with the workshops and jam sessions that keep the culture alive.
Champions were decided across eight categories, including the Junior and Open Showcase Competitions, the Breaking and Open-Styles 3v3 Battles, and four 7-to-Smoke Solo Battles, the high-pressure format where dancers trade rounds until one takes five wins.
Team Heart’s redemption run
One of the feel-good stories of the weekend belonged to Team Heart, who took the Open Showcase Champion title. After placing eighth last year, the Singapore crew returned with high energy and a strong sense of brotherhood to top the podium, a reminder that persistence pays off on the competitive circuit.
The Open Showcase Runner-Up spot went to Freekzy x Junglebeats, a group of friends who have been dancing together since 2006. Many are now husbands and fathers, and several teach dance, balancing family life with a shared love of the art form while shaping the next generation of dancers.

Events like LCDC give Singapore’s home-grown dancers a stage to test themselves against regional talent without leaving the island, while drawing international crews to Bugis.
