About the film

The Last Whale Singer (Der letzte Walsänger) is a 2025 animated feature rated PG, with a running time of 1 hour 31 minutes. When a monstrous creature escapes from a melting iceberg, a self-doubting teenage humpback whale has to face his fears and dive into the darkest depths with his friends to find the mystical song that can save the oceans.

It is one of three family titles at this year’s festival, alongside The Secret Floor at the German European School Singapore and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit at Our Tampines Hub.

How the audio works

The screening runs in English and German, with the soundtrack streamed to each viewer’s phone through the Cinewav app. After signing in to the app, audiences select “Get Ticket” on the film’s event page, then open “My Tickets” on the night to choose the German or English version. Registrants receive more details on accessing the audio after signing up.

What to bring

Bring earphones, a phone with the app installed, a picnic mat, snacks and drinks, insect repellent, and a poncho or umbrella. The event goes ahead rain or shine, and the screening stops only if there is a risk of lightning.

Getting there

The Eco-Lake Lawn is a two-minute walk from Botanic Gardens MRT station on the Downtown and Circle lines, via Bukit Timah Gate. The nearest car park is at Cluny Park Gate, a one- to two-minute walk away, but it is small and fills up quickly. Cluny Court is another parking option, with the same walking route as from the MRT exit. Wayfinders will be up from the station and the Cluny Park Gate car park.
