Gyogyo Japanese Grilled Fish and Sukiyaki: A Halal Japanese Gem in Funan

Looking for halal restaurants in Funan? My colleagues and I decided to try Gyogyo Japanese Grilled Fish and Sukiyaki on a recent lunch outing. Funan has a range of halal-friendly dining options, but this spot was new to us, and a delightful discovery!

Their handcrafted drinks are another highlight, especially the unique Yakult Mixes, available in Strawberry, Cucumber, and Mango flavours.

Must-Try Dishes at Gyogyo Japanese Grilled Fish and Sukiyaki

We started with the Mentaiko Crunchy Mushroom, a delicious appetizer perfect for sharing.

For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Halibut Set with Ebiko Mayoyaki. The Halibut was tender, slightly moist, and topped with creamy Shrimp Roe Mayonnaise. I was more than satisfied with my choice!

One of my colleagues went with the Grilled Saba Set. This came with steamed Japanese rice, miso soup, vegetables, and pickles. Although Saba can be bony, my colleague appreciated the fish’s juiciness and even cleaned his plate, including the bones!

Another favourite was the Grilled Salmon Set with Ebiko Mayoyaki. The salmon skin was slightly overcooked, making it a bit tough, but the flavours were still a hit.

The Nabe Salmon Set provided a warm, soupy option that paired perfectly with rice. It was so flavourful that one of us even considered asking for a second helping of rice.

For a bit of spice, try the Spicy Grilled Salmon Set. Its sauce gives a great kick, and some of us are already planning to order it next time.

Why Gyogyo is Worth the Visit

While Gyogyo Japanese Grilled Fish and Sukiyaki isn’t the cheapest option in Funan, the quality of the dishes and the variety on the menu make it well worth the cost. Each of us left satisfied and ready to return.

Besides Funan, Gyogyo also has locations at Plaza Singapura and VivoCity, making it easy to enjoy their delicious food across Singapore.
