GIC will run The Secret Vault, its first public exhibition, at New Bahru School Hall from Saturday 10 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 with free admission.
The exhibition marks GIC’s 45th anniversary and will be officially opened by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who chairs GIC’s board. Across six interactive chambers, visitors learn how GIC protects and grows Singapore’s reserves through long-term investing, inflation protection and risk management.
Inside the six chambers
The Archive traces GIC’s founding. It has historical news articles and artefacts, including the story of a single dollar bill tied to Singapore’s early sovereignty, and a vintage telephone that plays accounts from Dr Goh Keng Swee, Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Mr Yong Pung How. There is also a recreation of Mr Yong’s desk from his time as GIC’s first managing director.
At The Global Inflation Hypermart, visitors shop for a family’s groceries on a fixed budget across the decades as prices rise. The Weather Room turns major financial headlines from the past 45 years into shifting weather effects.
The Steward’s Gardens is about risk. Visitors use a blacklight torch to find hidden risks, make their way through a UV-lit maze and grow a digital orchid through infrared tracking. The Globe shows how GIC invests across markets, sectors and countries, and the last room, The Reserves of Tomorrow, asks visitors to leave their own hopes for the future in the vault.
“We hope that as more young Singaporeans engage with the work we do, they will be inspired to join us in our mission,” said GIC chief executive Lim Chow Kiat.
Tickets and opening hours
Admission is free, and tickets are released on a first-come, first-served basis on The Secret Vault site. The exhibition is at the Level 2 School Hall of New Bahru, 46 Kim Yam Road. It opens from 12pm to 6pm on Mondays and from 11am to 7pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
