The Killers and Lana Del Rey headline the F1 Padang Stage on 10 and 11 October

The Killers take the Padang Stage at 10.30pm on Saturday, 10 October, on a bill that opens with Zara Larsson at 6.45pm, and Lana Del Rey closes the Singapore Grand Prix there from 10.25pm on Sunday. The Singapore GP entertainment line-up puts all four Padang headliners in Zone 4, which every race ticket covers, while across town TWS play Arena @ EXPO at 5pm on Saturday.

The Padang nights run outdoors in haze. At 5am on Saturday, the 24-hour PSI was 127 to 177 across Singapore, in the unhealthy range, and the National Environment Agency (NEA) forecast unhealthy to low very unhealthy levels, with showers expected on Saturday and Sunday. Singapore GP runs the event rain or shine.

Saturday at the Padang: Zara Larsson and The Killers

Zara Larsson plays from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. The Swedish singer’s best-known hits include Lush Life and Never Forget You. The Killers follow from 10.30pm to 11.45pm, after the cars have finished for the night: the F1 Sprint runs from 5pm and Grand Prix qualifying from 9pm to 10pm.

Circuit gates open at 2.15pm on Saturday. The Goo Goo Dolls are also on the bill, from 7.30pm to 8.35pm, but on the Wharf Stage in Zone 1. A Zone 1 or Zone 2 ticket is needed for the Wharf and Barge stages, so a Zone 4 ticket alone does not cover that set.

Sunday at the Padang: James Arthur and Lana Del Rey

James Arthur opens the Padang’s Sunday from 6.15pm to 7.15pm. Janet Jackson is on at the same time on the Wharf Stage, so a Zone 1 or Zone 2 ticketholder has to choose between them. The Grand Prix starts at 8pm.

Lana Del Rey plays from 10.25pm to 11.55pm, a 90-minute set. It is her first appearance at the race. Gates open at 3pm on Sunday.

Getting in and getting a spot

General race tickets are mobile only, in the Singapore GP app, and screenshots, videos and printouts are turned away at the gates. Everyone needs a ticket, whatever their age; children under 12 must stay with a parent or guardian, and Singapore GP strongly advises that children under seven do not attend.

The Fan Zone in front of the Padang Stage is first come, first served. Fans can leave it at any time, but may not get back in once it has reached capacity. A wheelchair-accessible platform at the Padang works on the same basis, and families with young children are pointed to the Family Pens, entered from Connaught Drive near Dockside.

The quickest ways to the Padang are City Hall MRT (Exit A), five to 10 minutes on foot from Gate 3A, and Raffles Place MRT (Exit A or B), 10 minutes from Gates 4, 5 and 6.

TWS bring their 24/7:FOR:YOU tour to Arena @ EXPO at 5pm on Saturday, presented by The Square ENM SG. The six-member group, from PLEDIS Entertainment, broke through with the single plot twist from their debut album, Sparking Blue. The show runs 150 minutes with no interval, in Korean.

Tickets are S$298 for VIP, S$258, S$228 and S$178 for standard seats, and S$228 or S$178 for restricted view, plus a S$6 booking fee on each ticket. Children under six are not admitted, and anyone six or older needs a ticket. Bags larger than A4 are not allowed in, nor are fanboards larger than A4, light sticks over 30cm or outside food and drinks. Water bottles are allowed if they are not glass or single-use plastic, but they must be empty at the door. Expo MRT station sits next to the halls.

Haze, heat and the last train

The Padang concerts are open-air, and NEA’s advice for an unhealthy 24-hour PSI is for healthy people to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise it, and people with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid it. Singapore GP’s website carries a weather and haze page with the latest 1-hour PM2.5 reading.

Singapore GP’s own tips are to bring a water bottle, of up to one litre per person, and refill it at water points in the Circuit Park. Umbrellas cannot be used on grandstands, so the organiser suggests a poncho or raincoat, and ponchos are on sale at its merchandise booths. Anyone who feels unwell should go to the nearest first aid booth.

The Killers finish at 11.45pm on Saturday and Lana Del Rey at 11.55pm on Sunday. Trains from City Hall MRT run until 12.30am on Saturday night and 12.45am on Sunday night.
