Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Singapore opens at Sands Theatre on 19 May 2026, giving families and musical fans a major Marina Bay Sands show before the June holiday period. The Singapore season runs until 14 June 2026 and is billed by Marina Bay Sands as the production’s first stop in Southeast Asia.
The musical is based on Roald Dahl’s story, with songs from the original film and new numbers by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the songwriting team behind Hairspray. David Greig wrote the book. In plain terms, expect a recognisable family story told with Broadway-style staging, large theatrical moments and a familiar golden-ticket premise.

Marina Bay Sands lists off-peak shows mainly on Tuesday to Thursday at 8pm and Sunday at 6.30pm, with peak pricing for selected weekday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances. The duration is approximately 150 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
Tickets start from S$88 before booking fees. The show also has a Wonka Golden Surprise Seat category from S$238, VIP seats from S$198, and several reserve categories across the theatre. Dynamic pricing applies, so families should compare the actual ticket page before choosing seats.
The production is in English and recommended for ages six and above. Marina Bay Sands states that children below four will not be admitted, and all children below 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The timing is the main decision. A 150-minute musical can be long for younger children, even with an intermission. If your child is easily tired after school, a weekend matinee may be safer than an 8pm show. If your child already knows the story, the evening session may work better because the theatre atmosphere feels more special.
Doors open 60 minutes before the performance, and latecomers are admitted only at a suitable break. For families, that means toilet breaks and snacks should be handled before entering the venue. Marina Bay Sands also states that outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the theatre.
