Tembusu and The Bloomhouse now share Botanic Gardens’ Ginger Garden, with brunch from S$14

Two all-day restaurants now share the Ginger Garden at Singapore Botanic Gardens, with brunch from a S$14 kaya brown loaf and soft-boiled eggs up to a S$45 ribeye off the charcoal grill. Tembusu, a Straits dining house from Fleursophy Group, runs the Ginger Garden building that was home to The Halia, while The Bloomhouse by Little Farms sits a few steps away at Block 2, with its own Picnic Basket kiosk.

The rule for this list is simple: places to eat inside the Ginger Garden with a menu their operator published for September or October 2026. Three made it. Prices at both restaurants are subject to GST and service charge.

Tembusu

Tembusu cooks local and Straits dishes under timber beams, with tall windows onto the garden. Brunch is where the menu is most local: the homemade kaya brown loaf with French butter and two free-range soft-boiled eggs is S$14, and the Tembusu nasi lemak with blue pea basmati rice, chicken hindquarter, sambal, achar and otah is S$26.

Later in the day, udon laksa with Andaman sea prawn, surimi and sakura ebi is S$25, the Singapore chilli crab pasta with soft-shell crab and blue swimmer crab is S$27, and an Andaman prawn risotto in lobster bisque is S$32. Kopi and teh start at S$5.50, made with beans from Vietnam’s Gia Lai Highlands roasted in Singapore by Generation Coffee Roasters.

Two details matter for planning. Pets are allowed in the air-conditioned dining room, which is rare inside the Gardens. Local craft beer on tap drops to S$13 from S$16 during happy hour, noon to 5pm.

Tembusu opens 8am to 6pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 8am to 9pm from Wednesday to Sunday. A kids’ section has a junior chicken burger combo at S$16 and a cherry tomato pasta at S$12.

The Bloomhouse by Little Farms

The Bloomhouse is open every day from 7.30am to 8pm. Its menu, updated on 1 September, works ginger and other botanicals from the ginger family into the cooking, a nod to the garden outside.

Breakfast runs until 2pm. The Bloomhouse forest omelette is S$19, eggs Benedict with smoked salmon or nitrate-free ham is S$24, and the brekkie platter with two eggs, pork sausage, bacon and sourdough is S$33.

From 11am the kitchen moves to bowls, pasta and a charcoal grill. The Bloomhouse bowl with spiced chicken, avocado and wild rice is S$22. Its chilli crab fettuccine with fried mantou is S$30, three dollars more than Tembusu’s chilli crab pasta next door. The grill has a 250g picanha at S$38 and a 300g ribeye at S$45, and the Bloomhouse burger with a 180g beef patty is S$30.

Picnic Basket

Picnic Basket is The Bloomhouse’s takeaway counter, for anyone heading out onto the lawns rather than sitting down. Coffee starts at S$5.50 for an espresso, a long black or flat white is S$6.50, and house teas such as Ginger Garden herbal, with blue pea, torch ginger and lemongrass, are S$8.50.

Smoothies are S$12. Hot sandwiches run from S$11 for a ham and cheese croissant to S$14 for mortadella and scamorza. Event and group bookings go to [email protected].

Getting there

Both restaurants are inside the Ginger Garden at 1 Cluny Road, deeper in the Gardens than the Nassim Gate visitor centre that map apps point to. The nearest MRT station is Botanic Gardens on the Circle and Downtown lines; enter by the Bukit Timah Gate and walk through to the Ginger Garden. Drivers should use the Learning Forest carpark, the closest drop-off point.

Both menus include pork dishes, and neither restaurant states a halal certification. Tembusu takes general enquiries at [email protected].
