Bangkok’s August calendar has three very different anchors: Pantomime in Bangkok on 8 to 9 August, Character Fest Thailand 2 at CentralWorld on 14 to 17 August, and Thai Teaw Thai 79 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on 20 to 23 August.
Start with immovable dates
Pantomime is a two-day weekend, Character Fest runs four days and Thai Teaw Thai runs four days later in the month. Place the event on the calendar before buying attraction tickets. (TAT August 2026 events calendar)
CentralWorld suits a Siam or Chit Lom base; Queen Sirikit National Convention Center has its own MRT connection; the pantomime venue is on Ratchadaphisek Road. Minimise cross-city travel during rain and peak-hour traffic.
| Situation | What changes |
|---|---|
| Travel 8 to 9 August and want performance | Anchor the trip at Pantomime in Bangkok |
| Travel 14 to 17 August and like pop culture | Use Character Fest at CentralWorld |
| Travel 20 to 23 August and want trip deals or ideas | Use Thai Teaw Thai at QSNCC |
| Dates do not match | Choose another TAT-listed event rather than force the itinerary |
Choose by experience, not hype
Pantomime offers performances and workshops, Character Fest centres on characters, artists and merchandise, while Thai Teaw Thai is a domestic travel fair. Write what you want to do for two hours; reject an event that does not serve it. (TAT rainy-season travel notice)
August is rainy season. TAT promotes the calmer, greener side of the period, but travellers still need flexible movement. Avoid stacking a timed event immediately after an outdoor cross-town plan.
Example: A 15 to 17 August visitor interested in character art should base near Siam, attend Character Fest at CentralWorld, and keep an indoor nearby plan for heavy rain. A detour to QSNCC for Thai Teaw Thai makes no sense because that fair starts on 20 August.
Verify admission with the organiser
TAT’s calendar establishes the event and dates, but ticketing, entry limits and programme changes belong to the event organiser. Check the organiser page before payment and again on the morning.
Trying to cover unrelated events can turn a short trip into mall and rail transfers. Pair one event with nearby food, shopping or a neighbourhood walk.
