Playeum’s free Born To Play family playdate takes over the Level 4 multipurpose hall at Fernvale Community Club in Sengkang on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026, for children aged 6 and below and their parents. Playeum, the children’s play and arts charity, is running four sessions across the weekend, and the online tickets are sold out.

Walk-ins are allowed, but entry is subject to a capacity cap for safety reasons, so a place for families without a ticket is not guaranteed.
Four sessions over the weekend
The playdate runs in four blocks:
- Saturday 10 October, 1.30pm to 3pm
- Saturday 10 October, 3.30pm to 5pm
- Sunday 11 October, 10am to 12pm
- Sunday 11 October, 1.30pm to 3.30pm
Fernvale Community Club is at 21 Sengkang West Avenue, Singapore 797650. The playdate is organised by Yu Jiarong with Playeum, with support from Fernvale Community Club.
What the playdate is
Born To Play is built around loose parts play. Families explore an open-ended play space filled with loose parts, through a series of curated free play invitations. Playeum’s playmakers and volunteers facilitate the activities, support the children and keep each session running smoothly.
The activities are designed for children aged 0 to 6. Older siblings up to 8 can come along.
Parents and caregivers have to stay for the whole session and supervise their own children. The playmakers focus on running the activities and do not provide individual supervision or caregiving, so the playdate works as a parent-child session rather than a drop-off.

Rules for walk-ins
Every participant needed a ticket, including infants in arms. Online bookings were limited to six tickets per order. Ticket holders more than 15 minutes late join the walk-in queue.
The playdate is free, with no charge for walk-ins. The activities are not designed for children older than 8.
A parenting session on 17 October
A week later, Playeum runs a session for adults. Instinct or Intention: What Shapes the Way We Care for Children? is on Saturday 17 October from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at Common Ground Civic Centre, 21 Bedok North Street 1, as part of the Connecting Narratives for Change Festival.
The session opens with a screening of SEEN, an award-winning Australian documentary in which parents look at how their own upbringing shapes the way they raise their children. A guided conversation follows, where participants reflect on their own experiences and find out about existing communities and pathways for support and learning. Playeum is running the session with Chapter Zero Singapore.
The session is ticketed. A Single Session Pass costs S$35 including GST and covers one festival session plus the lunchtime fringe activities. An All-day Pass is priced on a sliding scale of S$60, S$70 or S$80, where buyers choose the tier they can afford.
Free play spaces after the weekend
Playeum was founded in 2009 and became a registered charity with Institution of a Public Character status in 2013. It uses play and the arts to create equitable opportunities for learning, voice and agency for children in Singapore, and works with partners across sectors to run its programmes.
Playeum also runs two free programmes that carry on after the Fernvale weekend. Playdate @ Bishan Community Club is a community play space for families with children aged 12 and under, set up with Bishan Community Club in 2025.
Open Minds, Open Doors is an inclusive play programme for families with children with disabilities and their siblings, run with Art of the Earth Learning Hub since 2019. Both are free to access.
Born To Play opens at 1.30pm on Saturday 10 October at Fernvale Community Club.
