Mama Shelter adds S$119.60++ caviar and chocolate afternoon tea for four

Mama Shelter Singapore has added a caviar, chocolate fondue and Champagne afternoon tea at Mama Restaurant on Killiney Road, priced at S$119.60++ (S$29.90++ a head for four), the hotel announced this week.

Called Chocolate, Caviar & Champagne, or CCC: Mama’s Afternoon Tea, it runs from Wednesday to Saturday, 2.30pm to 5.30pm, so the next sittings are from Wednesday (30 September). The full set price applies however many diners share it, and coffee or tea is included.

What comes in the set

The savoury half opens with Mama’s Caviar Dip, a sour cream dip topped with tobiko, spring onion and caviar. It comes with black truffle potato chips for dipping, truffle bikini sandwiches and ham croquettes.

The sweet half is built around an individual milk chocolate fondue served with berries, alongside almond financiers and madeleines. A lemon meringue tartlet closes the set. There are no scones on the menu, which leans on dips, chips and fondue instead.

Champagne costs extra

Despite the name, Champagne is not part of the base price. A glass of Champagne or a cocktail can be added for S$9.90++ each, so a table of four with one glass apiece pays S$159.20++. Prices are subject to service charge and GST.

There is also a game attached. Guests who roll a four on Mama’s dice get 50 per cent off the set, subject to terms and conditions, which would bring the set down to S$59.80++.

Where it is served

Mama Restaurant is the ground-floor dining room of the French hotel brand’s Singapore property, with banquettes and decor by the design studio Dion & Arles, a full bar and a stage for occasional live music. It opens from 7am daily, closing at 10pm on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays and at midnight from Wednesday to Saturday.

The set includes ham. Bookings go through the restaurant on +65 8995 6374, and Somerset MRT station is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
