The National Library Board’s Big Book Giveaway runs Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026, 10am to 4pm, at The Plaza, Level 1, National Library Building (100 Victoria Street), with up to 10 free pre-loved books or audio-visual items per person while stocks last.
Ten books, ten minutes
Browsing is capped at 10 minutes per participant so queues keep moving. Titles are grouped by genre, including fiction, non-fiction, Mother Tongue and children’s shelves, plus AV items from NLB’s public library collections. Bring your own bag.
Bugis (EW12/DT14), Bras Basah (CC2) and City Hall (NS25/EW13) MRT stations serve the building. Paid parking is available on site. The plaza is open-air, so check the weather before you go.
Donate books, or give to MINDS
Visitors may also bring pre-loved books for others, up to 100 per person. NLB will not take religious materials, textbooks, assessment books, magazines, annual reports, DVDs, CDs or other AV, or damaged and worn-out items.
This year’s edition encourages goodwill donations to MINDS, NLB’s adopted charity, while you browse. Donations are voluntary and are not a charge for the free books.
NLB’s eCard may be required. Download the NLB Mobile app and register a myLibrary account before you queue if you do not already have one. Public Libraries Singapore and ReadSG channels carry the latest pass notes. The giveaway runs 10am to 4pm on 19 and 20 September 2026 at Plaza L1, National Library Building.
