Wimbledon 2026 Day 4 belonged to the top seeds. Iga Swiatek was cool and clinical, Alexander Zverev was dominant and powerful, and the All England Club’s grass courts produced a series of results that confirmed the sport’s elite are firmly in control heading into the third round of the Championships.

Swiatek: Cool, Calm, and Clinical on Centre Court
Third seed Iga Swiatek continued her typically ruthless progress at Wimbledon 2026, dismissing Karolína Plíšková 6-1, 6-3 in just over an hour on Centre Court. It was, as the Polish world number three put it herself afterwards, “another day in the office.”
Swiatek was in total control throughout. She broke Plíšková’s serve three times in the first set and twice more in the second, never allowing her Czech opponent to settle into the match. Her returning game, so often the bedrock of her play, was exceptional — she returned at 68% on second serves, an astonishing figure at this level.
The result sets up what could be a fascinating third-round encounter. Swiatek’s section of the draw has been widely discussed all fortnight, and the prospect of a potential clash with former champion Serena Williams looms on the horizon. But for now, the reigning French Open champion is focused only on the task at hand.
“I’m not thinking about who’s next,” Swiatek told the press. “I focus on what I can control, and today I executed the gameplan well. Grass is never easy, but I feel good.”
This is already Swiatek’s deepest run at Wimbledon in terms of form, and after two dominant victories, the question is not whether she can win — but who, if anyone, can stop her. For context on how the women’s draw has unfolded from the start, see our Day 3 recap featuring Sinner and Djokovic.
Wimbledon 2026 Day 4: Zverev Races Through with 14 Aces

Second seed Alexander Zverev was equally impressive on No. 1 Court, blasting past qualifier Valentin Royer 6-1, 6-3, 7-6(3) in a match that showcased every dimension of the German’s grass-court game.
The 14 aces he produced were the standout statistic, but it was his movement and his ability to convert pressure into points that told the real story. Zverev converted five of his eight break-point opportunities and was clinical in the tiebreak when Royer, to his credit, refused to buckle easily in the third set. The world number two ultimately asserted his quality at the right moments and sealed the win in straight sets.
“I’m very happy with how I’m hitting the ball,” Zverev said post-match. “Grass suits my game and I feel confident. I want to go deep here.” After an intriguing opening to the Championships, both Zverev and the top seeds are making their authority felt.
Other Notable Wimbledon 2026 Day 4 Results

Beyond the headline names, Day 4 produced a raft of results across the show courts. Matteo Berrettini, the crowd favourite who reached the Wimbledon final in 2021, continued his fightback on the grass he loves best, defeating Arthur Fils in four sets to reach the third round.
Alex de Minaur was equally impressive — the Australian 12th seed dismissed Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 and barely broke sweat. American eighth seed Taylor Fritz also advanced, beating Patrick Kypson 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 in a composed performance.
Elsewhere on the day, Grigor Dimitrov defeated 15th seed Jakub Mensik in what was arguably the match of the day — the Bulgarian veteran’s greater grass-court experience proving decisive in a tight encounter. Frances Tiafoe beat Jan Choinski, Bublik accounted for Jacquet, Lehecka dispatched Molcan, Cobolli got past Duckworth, and Khachanov overcame Hanfmann in a workmanlike victory.
Looking Ahead: The Third Round Takes Shape
With the second round now largely complete, Wimbledon 2026 is beginning to take real shape. Swiatek, Zverev, and a host of other top seeds have come through unscathed, while a few potential upsets elsewhere mean the draws are starting to open up in intriguing ways.
Day 5 promises more action across all courts, with several crucial third-round matches on the schedule. Follow all the latest Wimbledon 2026 coverage in our Sports section as the Championships continue to deliver.
