Air New Zealand And SIA Expand Codeshare: More Christchurch And Auckland Options

Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines are expanding their joint network for the Northern Winter 2026 season from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027, giving Singapore travellers more ways to connect into New Zealand through Christchurch and Auckland.

For readers here, the practical benefit is choice. Air New Zealand will add three weekly Singapore-Christchurch services, while the wider alliance update adds capacity into Auckland and raises Singapore-New Zealand seat count by 17% from late October.

What Travellers Should Look For

The joint-network update is most relevant if you are planning a South Island holiday, a family visit or a longer New Zealand itinerary that needs domestic or trans-Tasman connections after the Singapore flight.

The airlines say they will operate 15 weekly Christchurch services during the peak months from November 2026 to February 2027, combining Air New Zealand’s three weekly flights with SIA’s existing Christchurch operations. The update also adds about 72,000 seats, bringing the alliance’s total Singapore-New Zealand seat count to more than 490,000 for the season.

Christchurch Or Auckland

Christchurch is the cleaner starting point for South Island road trips, especially if Queenstown, Aoraki Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo or Canterbury are on the plan. Auckland gives more North Island options and is usually easier if you are mixing city time with Rotorua, Hobbiton or Bay of Islands.

The expanded joint network should be read as a routing tool, not just a headline. Singapore travellers should price both directions because flying into one city and out of another can save backtracking. SIA will also deploy the Airbus A380 on daily SQ285 and SQ286 Auckland services during the season.

Booking Notes

Use the Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines booking pages to compare fare rules, baggage, seats and connection times. KrisFlyer and Airpoints members should also check accrual rules before assuming every codeshare sector earns the same way.

Air New Zealand’s joint-network announcement and SIA’s matching release give the carrier update on the expansion.
