Weekend travel on the Thomson-East Coast Line and Downtown Line will change from 22 May 2026 as LTA, SMRT and SBS Transit run final systems integration tests for upcoming rail extensions.
The TEL adjustments run on weekends from 22 May to 4 July 2026, while DTL adjustments run from 10 July to 5 September 2026. Commuters should check first and last-train timings before making late-night or early-morning plans.
Who Should Plan Ahead
The main groups affected are airport, east-side, central and downtown commuters who rely on weekend rail journeys. If you are going to events, flights, shifts or school activities near the affected windows, add buffer time and confirm alternative routes.
The point of the works is to integrate new line segments before TEL Stage 5 and the DTL extension open in the second half of 2026.
Practical Travel Notes
Use the LTA and operator advisories before each weekend because exact service patterns can differ by date. If your trip is time-sensitive, plan a bus, taxi or ride-hail backup rather than assuming normal rail intervals.
