5 by Sans-Facon, nestled among the preserved black and white residences at Seletar Aerospace Park, is a French restaurant that had piqued my interest. Finally, the opportunity presents itself for me to experience brunch at this establishment on Christmas Eve.
If you plan to visit on a weekend, do make reservation in advance. The place was filled shortly after our arrival.
They just refreshed their brunch menu few days ago and there’s also a time limited (till 1st Jan 2024) menu on-going currently.
Starter – Poached Salmon Niçoise
Cold poached salmon Niçoise salad, mixed greens and olive oil.
We ordered this under the recommendation of the service crew. The salmon was freshly delivered today.
The salmon was succulent, fresh. The greens provided a crisp and refreshing contrast. It was an excellent choice for us.
Starter – Merry Foie Medley
Foie gras on toasted brioche with caramelised onions and apple.
This is a time limited menu item. Crispy toasted brioche mixed with the creamy savoury foie gras. Complex but delightful with every bite.
Mains – 5-SSINI
Beef tenderloin with foie gras, potato tart and beef jus
This was another item on the time limited festive menu.
A classic French dish with combination of fine ingredients. The beef tenderloin was nicely seasoned and seared. I loved the potato tarts. It was layered like lasagne, buttery and lightly charred to achieve a smokey finish.
Desserts – Apple Tatin
There’s always room for dessert. We ordered the apple tatin from Ma Petite Épicerie. Lightly sweet caramelised apple together with the flasky pastry. It was an inviting treat.
My Verdict:
Food: 4.5/5 (looking forward to try their wagyu burger and lemon meringue pie)
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5 (limited indoor seatings and the outdoors can get warm, so remember to get your reservation early)
