Firefly cancels Seletar to Subang flights up to 18 October as haze lingers

Firefly’s turboprops will stay off the Seletar run for the weekend. Firefly has cancelled services between Seletar Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang up to 18 October 2026 because of weather and haze at Seletar.

The cancellation covers both directions on the route, Subang to Seletar and Seletar to Subang. It is the latest change to Firefly’s operating plan for the city route, which links Singapore’s business airport in the north-east with the old Kuala Lumpur airport in Subang, a short drive from Petaling Jaya and the Klang Valley’s western suburbs.

Rebooking on Malaysia Airlines

Passengers on cancelled flights are being contacted and moved onto available Malaysia Airlines flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Changi Airport (SIN), subject to seat availability. Firefly is a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, so the switch stays within the same group.

That change matters on the ground. A traveller booked into Seletar now lands at or departs from Changi, and on the Malaysian side the flight uses KLIA in Sepang rather than Subang.

Refunds

Passengers who do not want the reallocated Malaysia Airlines flight can ask for a full refund. The money goes back to the original payment method within 30 working days.

Firefly sends schedule updates to affected customers by email and SMS, using the contact details in each booking. Travellers can update a phone number or email address through Manage My Booking on the Firefly website, or reach Firefly Customer Care and Live Chat through the same site. A flight-status tool on the site checks a single flight by number and departure date.

Why Seletar is affected

Firefly flies ATR turboprops between Subang and Seletar, a smaller airfield than Changi. Haze cuts visibility at the airfield, and the 24-hour PSI on data.gov.sg stood at 219 in the central region, 190 in the west, 189 in the east, 176 in the south and 143 in the north at 5am on 16 October. Readings above 200 sit in the very unhealthy band.

Firefly will contact affected customers directly about any changes after 18 October.
