Allora, the Italian restaurant at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, is running a Halloween buffet over one weekend only: dinner on Saturday, 31 October, and lunch on Sunday, 1 November. Adults pay S$61.60++ with the code AAD30 instead of the usual S$88++, according to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport.
The buffet is called Allora After Dark. Dinner on 31 October starts at 6pm, and lunch on 1 November runs from 12pm to 3pm.
What is on the spread
The Halloween part of the menu is mostly Allora’s Italian cooking with a costume on. The featured hot dishes are Pumpkin Gnocchi with roasted pumpkin cream and sage, a Graveyard Shepherd’s Pie of braised lamb ragout under mashed potato, a Vampire Beef Stew braised in red wine and tomato, Blood Orange Glazed Seabass and a Witch’s Cauldron Chicken Cacciatore.
The seafood counter is the bigger draw at this price. The hotel lists lobsters, prawns, mud crabs, scallops, mussels and oysters, alongside beetroot-smoked and herb-smoked salmon. There is also a cold cuts and cheese table with Parma ham, mortadella and six cheeses, from Grana Padano to smoked scamorza.
Soups are a Ghostly Cauliflower Cream with beetroot sauce and a Bloody Tomato beef soup. The salads include a purple Monster Mash Potato Salad and a Vampire Caprese with buffalo mozzarella.
Live stations include a pasta wheel, a one-metre pizza and a Coffin Calzone, plus a barbecue grill and a carving station. The dessert table runs to Graveyard Tiramisu, a Brain Red Velvet cake, Bloody Panna Cotta and Voodoo Cookies.
The price, and the catch
At S$61.60++, the code takes 30 per cent off the adult price. Children pay S$44++, and children aged six and below eat free, so two adults and a pre-schooler pay S$123.20++ with the code.
The menu includes pork, among them Parma ham, mortadella and bacon in the salad bar, so the buffet is not suited to diners who avoid pork.
Tables with at least two adults get a complimentary two-hour parking coupon. For anyone coming by train, the hotel is at Terminal 3, a short walk from Changi Airport MRT station.
