October round 1 quota

The October quota is higher than the previous round in three categories. Category A has 1,232 COEs, up 39, Category B has 945, up 18, and motorcycles have 530, up eight. Goods vehicles and buses drop from 318 to 310, and the Open category from 269 to 253.

How bidding works

Individuals bid at DBS or POSB ATMs, while companies and motor traders can also bid online through DBS, UOB or Maybank. An individual must be at least 18 and can submit one bid per exercise. The bid deposit is S$10,000 for Categories A, B, C and E, and S$1,500 for motorcycles, plus a bank administration fee of S$2 to S$10.

Each bid carries a reserve price, the most the bidder will pay. The system raises the bid in S$1 steps up to that ceiling, and a submitted bid cannot be withdrawn, though the reserve price can be raised through OneMotoring’s Enquire/Revise COE Bid service. All successful bidders in a category pay the same quota premium, set at the highest unsuccessful bid plus S$1 when bidding closes.

The second October exercise runs from Monday 19 October at 12 noon to Wednesday 21 October at 4pm.
