The Katong Joo Chiat Business Association (KJCBA) runs the street festival with placemaking partner INVADE as part of the Land Transport Authority’s first Joo Chiat Car-Free Day, held for World Car-Free Day 2026. The road is closed to traffic from 8am today to 2am on Sunday.

Three zones on one road

Near East Coast Road, the Picnic and Music cluster carries the main stage, picnic lawn, food tastings, a beer garden and jams. Mid-stretch is Wellness, with yoga, Pilates, dance fitness and mindfulness sessions from Ojas and partner studios. Kids and art activities sit near Fowlie Road, and a second music and arts zone closes the Dunman Road end.

Near Dunman Road, the Pets zone adds an agility run, paw portraits, a pet marketplace, adoption and education booths, and Pawquest trail challenges. Dogs must stay leashed, and owners clean up after them.

Community Pass and S$5 vouchers

One thousand complimentary Community Passes were given out through participating merchants from mid-September. They are not for sale. Today, a pass can be redeemed at the counters for a speciality coffee, chilled tea or craft drink while stocks last, limited to one per guest. Alcohol needs photo ID for guests 18 and above.

Games, heritage challenges and workshops across the zones share a pool of up to S$5,000 in S$5 merchant vouchers, spent at participating Joo Chiat merchants. The vouchers are single use, cannot be exchanged for cash, and unused value is not refunded.

Festival timetable

The festival and the pass redemption counter open at 3.30pm. Community yoga and the Breakfast at Fluffy’s BFF PAWDASH start at 4pm; the first 300 sign-ups receive a Dasher’s Bow and the top 10 dogs win S$100 BFF vouchers. Food tastings and a heritage kueh demo follow at 5pm, Pilates and dance fitness at 5.30pm, the live band on the main stage at 6.30pm, a community music jam at 7.30pm and a closing DJ set at 8.30pm. The festival ends at 9.30pm.

Wellness sessions

Seven local businesses run free classes of 30 minutes to an hour around Marshall Lane. Walk-ins are welcome. The Ojas sessions are guided through silent headsets.
