I stumbled upon Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle as a delightful surprise while exploring alternative dining options. Situated within the Zion Riverside Food Centre, this hawker center neighbors Great World City. It’s worth noting that the Zion Riverside Food Centre holds historical significance as one of Singapore’s earliest hawker centers, inaugurated in 1974.
Although many patrons flock to Zion Riverside Food Centre for the renowned Fried Kway Teow, particularly the famous No. 18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow, I opted not to endure the one-hour queue for a plate of Char Kway Teow. Instead, I set out to discover other delectable dishes on the menu.
That’s when I stumbled upon Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle, a proud recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction. For prawn noodle enthusiasts, it’s worth noting that this establishment is linked to Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee, located at Adam Road Food Centre.
I chose the most economical option priced at $8, which came with two generously portioned prawns, each cut in half, and two delectable pork ribs. Naturally, for $13, $20, or $28, you can enjoy higher-quality prawns and a more extensive selection of ingredients.
What truly captivated me was the rich, umami-packed broth, a pivotal element of any exceptional prawn noodle dish. The broth is meticulously prepared, and simmered for countless hours with a blend of prawn heads and pork ribs.
I appreciated the well-seasoned noodles, enhanced by chili and other condiments. Paired with the savory depth of the broth, it was a harmonious combination that made for a satisfying meal. Whenever my cravings for prawn noodles strike, Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle will be my top choice. It unquestionably lives up to its Michelin Bib Gourmand accolade.
