My first time (sort of) hiking… The TreeTop Walk

My name is Wilber and I love exercise… (I think this sounds like a lie…)

My colleagues asked me to do this. I am trying to keep healthy as well.

If you don’t know where is the TreeTop Walk, you are very “swakoo”. The starting point is at Venus Drive.

We will go through the Windsor Nature Park and enter the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. These are the ‘green lungs’ of Singapore.

Recently I also cycled in the ‘green lung’ of Bangkok… Here is the video.

When you start hiking from the Venus Drive carpark, it will take you about 40 minutes to reach the start of the TreeTop Walk.

The route is well paved. For most of the journey.

You will come to this junction. From here on it is on a dirt track.

The dirt path is not very long.

You will reach a slope before the entrance to the TreeTop walk. Here you may encounter some people who cannot afford to wear t-shirts. I am so fortunate to be able to afford a t-shirt. I am genuinely grateful.

    The slope is quite steep.

Oh yes, the TreeTop Walk’s opening hours are as such. We reached too early. We reached at 8 am so we needed to wait for 30 minutes. Some of us walked back down the hill and back up again.

Here I was. Together with the other people who are all fortunate to have enough money to buy t-shirts.

My colleagues and I were discussing what to eat after the hike.

The park ranger will come over at 8.30 am to open the Treetop Walk.

There is no turning back now!

You will need to go through this hut to the TreeTop Walk.

The view is amazing. This is at 8.30 am.

It is not scary at all.

The bridge is not very long. It took us a few minutes to clear the bridge.

This is the door at the other side of the bridge.

Past the door is a long flight of stairs. This part is the most challenging part of the hike.

I think there is a spelling mistake?

Here is the route we took. We started at Venus Drive.

On the way back we saw some monkeys.

That is me. I looked like I was enjoying myself. That is not sweat. My fats were crying.

End of the hike. Total distance was about 5-6 km. Took us about 2 hours with the waiting.

Hot tip, reach Venus Drive carpark at about 7.40 am. You will reach the start of the TreeTop walk at around 8.30 am. This way you will not have to wait for the walk to open.

I hope I can keep this up. I think I need to keep healthy.

However, I ate prata after this.

    Wasted effort?

    Yours,

    Wilber.
