For starters, affogato or affogato al caffè, is an Italian dessert. It is made up of a scoop of gelato with espresso. So clearly if you walk into AiFOKATO, you should know what to expect and what they specialise in.
It states Mix & Match, Create your own Affogato. Clearly spelt out and with a sprinkle of Korean words at the bottom of the sign, you could deduce that this is a Korean cafe selling affogato which you can mix and match.
Yet some of the team did not get what was in store for the day. Yes that is the team sitting in front of AiFOKATO.
It was the middle of the day and there were still a steady crowd of people patronising AiFOKATO. It is genuinely refreshing to see new entrants to Singapore’s F&B scene. It is not all doom and gloom. I see it as a renewal or refresh where new concepts take the place of ageing ones.
There is some parking in front of the shop. This should give you an idea of where this place is. On a nice cool day, sitting outside having DIY affogato is a very viable option.
I personally like the decor.
So of course they would have this machine. If not how would they make affogato?
This is the Chocolate Dirty Latte.
Chocolate Expresso and Chocolate Chocolate. They have caffeine free options as well. If you are bringing your kids I am guessing you may not want them to get an extra boost of energy from an expresso.

This was what we ordered in total. The presentation makes this really instagrammable. But then all food has to be instagrammable these days.

Clearly everyone enjoyed their dessert.
Yes we were invited to try their options. However, did we enjoy it? Well, yes. It was really good. You know how gelato can be a little too sweet and coffee can be a little too bitter? This kind of evens things out and hits the sweet spot. Would be return for seconds and beyond? Most definitely.
To us, AiFOKATO is a must try. When you need a mid afternoon boost and if you are working around the area, you have to give this one a shot (no pun intended).
