If you haven’t made it down to Gardens by the Bay’s annual Sakura exhibition yet, consider this your final reminder — it closes on 15 April 2026. This year’s edition is extra special, combining the beauty of Japanese cherry blossoms with beloved Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi, all set against a stunning tribute to Ishikawa Prefecture.
Now in its 11th year, the Sakura display at the Flower Dome has become a seasonal favourite for Singaporeans and tourists alike. With just days left, this is your last chance to catch the pink blooms before they’re gone for 2026.
What to Expect at Sakura 2026
This year’s Sakura showcase draws inspiration from Ishikawa Prefecture, a region celebrated for its rich cultural heritage. The Flower Dome has been transformed to feature recreations of Ishikawa’s most iconic landmarks, including a two-storey Nomura residence modelled after a former samurai home of the Maeda clan. Expect to see an engawa (veranda) overlooking a serene courtyard garden, complete with wooden sliding doors, tatami mats, and traditional arts on display.
Visitors can also explore recreations inspired by the famed Kenroku-en — one of Japan’s top three landscape gardens — along with exquisite traditional lacquerware and a captivating kimono forest. The display also brings to life the historic samurai and geisha districts that Ishikawa is known for.

Sanrio Characters Join the Cherry Blossom Celebration
Adding a dose of kawaii magic to the floral spectacle, this edition welcomes five beloved Sanrio characters to celebrate hanami among the cherry blossoms. Look out for Hello Kitty posing in a pretty kimono beside a rickshaw, alongside My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi scattered throughout the display. They make for perfect photo opportunities, especially for families visiting with young children.
