I know what you are thinking. Where is TripleOne Somerset. I thought the same thing when I googled “dessert places near me” while standing in the middle of Orchard Central. Out popped Rise Bakehouse with a Google rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 686 reviews. When I first saw such a high rating, my initial thought was that this establishment most likely paid for ratings.
Heck it. It was a Sunday and on Sundays I allow myself to have cheat meals.
TripleOne Somerset is across the road from 313 Somerset. Quite “ulu”.
Rise Bakehouse is located on the ground level. Actually this shopping mall is so unknown that I did not see any signs of life on the second level of the shopping mall.
Anyway, Rise Bakehouse is very near FairPrice. Oh yes, if you want to do your grocery shopping, you can visit FairPrice at TripleOne Somerset. The fruits are very fresh. At the FairPrice near my place, a lot of the apples have fingernail marks. The last time I saw some auntie using her fingernail to press the apple to see if it was crunchy… After that, I always try to visit FairPrice outlets with less human traffic.
Rise Bakehouse has this very expansive feel. Very welcoming.
The desserts all look so pretty!
They are famous for their cakes. You can make orders on their website. I would say that their cakes are one of the most aesthetically pleasing cakes in Singapore.
While their ice cream offering was good, I felt that it defeats the purpose of having a price for a single and double scoop of ice cream and then having to pay a dollar more for the premium flavour. Especially when almost all the flavours are premium flavours. Why not just put a price for a single and double scoop of premium flavours and take a dollar off for the non premium flavour?
I believe there was only one or two non-premium flavour.
This was the Osmanthus Oolong Cake which was very good. Not overly sweet with a tinge of refreshing oolong. This is a must try. If this is a Chinese New Year flavour, you only have a few more days to try this.
This is the Hazelnut Praline Choc Cake. Rich chocolate flavour without being overly sweet. I think the cakes at Rise Bakehouse are well balanced in terms of flavour. This kind of fits with the Singapore palette of us not wanting too much sugar in our food.
My family and I ordered too much ice cream. I wanted to try as many flavours to give their ice cream offering a proper review.
This was the Toasted S’mores on top and the Honey Chrysanthemum with Cacao Nibs at the bottom. The Honey Chrysanthemum was perfect. The Toasted S’mores is ideal if you have a sweet tooth. Too sweet for my liking though.
This was the Honey Chrysanthemum with Cacao Nibs and Raspberry Lychee Rose. If you want something refreshing.
The flavour on the left is the Lemoncurd Speculoos (to me this is the best flavour) and the right is White Peach Sencha.
My family and I did not get a chance to try any of their signature teacakes. I will leave that for the next visit. Oh and they had waffles too! It looked like there were a few other customers having waffles.
First impression from just their dessert offering. I think you will be hard pressed to find a better place to have dessert in the Somerset area.
I think I will be back one of the next few weekends.
